The Department of Gastroenterology was established in August 2019 serving the people of whole Malakant Division and also parts of Kohistan Districts. the Only spcecialized department serving the people of the said territory. The Department of Gastroenterlogy comprosis of Outpatient Department, Endoscopy Suite and Indoor Ward with 21 beds and a conference room for academic activities..

PROCEDURES:
The Endoscopy room was established in March 2013 in Medicine Department. it is equipped with latest diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic facilities including EGD, Colonoscopy adn Band Ligation of esophageal varices, Polypectom, Esophageal dilation for strictures and Achalasia and foreign body removal, Baloon dilation and PEG Tube placement. Approximatelty 4900 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures have been successfully performed till date since March 2013. ERCP facility has been made available for the first time in public hospitals of Malakand Division at Saidu Teaching Hospital, ensuring high-quality diagnosis and treatment for patients in the region.

4, weekly journal club/ ward audit.
